In 1994, twelve families started meeting in a borrowed fellowship hall with a piano that was slightly out of tune. They wanted a church where the Bible was taught plainly and where newcomers weren't treated like newcomers for very long.
By 2003 the congregation had outgrown the borrowed space, and a longtime member donated the land on Magnolia Ridge Drive where the brick sanctuary stands today. The live oak out front was already there. We just built around it.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina flooded the building. Volunteers from across the country helped us gut and rebuild, and for months we served hot meals out of the parking lot before we had a roof. We reopened in 2007, and we haven't forgotten who showed up for us.
We're not big and we don't plan to be. We'd rather know your name than count your attendance.
